Self Care

When was your last massage?  If you cannot remember then it has been too long!!

Aside from getting massages, what else do you do for yourself?  Facials, manicure/pedicure, read a good book, get some new make-up or clothes… etc.  Whatever makes you feel good or helps you relax and recharge.

What can you do for yourself that you don’t do and why?  Is it because you put your family first, maybe it’s the money, or is it just taking the time to go and DO it!??!

I do agree that sometimes I don’t want to take the time to get pampered, (even tho it may sound silly) because there are other things I want to do with that time.  I just have to remind myself that it’s just what I need!

Add ‘Self Care’ to your To Do list so it gets done!  Remember if you don’t take care of yourself, how are you going to be able to give yourself to the ones you love.  Giving and receiving need to be in balance… keep that in mind the next time you want something!

Stretching IS Important!

I thought this video is interesting, we don’t even think about what is going on inside our body.  We sleep, wake up and go to work, maybe exercise that day, then come home and sit on the couch; a typical day in an American’s life.  But what is happening to our body. Build up!  The ‘fuzz’ as he calls it is building up thicker and thicker each day!!!  No wonder why we can’t move by the age of 50!

Let’s pay attention to what our body is telling us.  Do you have aches, pains, and stiffness, why don’t you take a few minutes a day to stretch and open up the body.  Take your cat or dog for instance, what is the first thing they do when they wake up?  That’s right, STRETCH!  Doesn’t it feel so good when you wake up and stretch?  I’d say a big Yes to that one.  If you take five or ten minutes a day to stretch out you will notice a difference.  Breathing becomes easier, you may find you are walking taller, and overall feeling better.

Since spring has sprung, I personally have been stretching my body more.  I take the time after my outdoor walks/bike rides to specifically stretch out my hamstrings.  What a difference it has made with increasing my flexibility.  It’s so exciting to see the progress I have made!

Recipes for Summer

Here are some fun fresh recipes I would like to share with you.  I am always looking for new ideas for healthy snacks and dinners.  Sometimes I get stuck in a rut of making the same meals over and over again.  Actually its not all bad since I usually perfect the meals I make each time, its just that sometimes I want to mix it up a bit!  Create a new healthy meal and have fun with it.  I take an idea from a recipe and make it my own, add my flair to it.  (I got that from my mom, she hardly ever uses recipes to cook.)

So I hope you can take these and run with your own fun ideas.  But, please do share them with me so I can have some fun as well.  Happy cooking!
